The Two Worlds of ART?

I am sure you have a friend or you have met someone who loves music and has a studio but never really does anything but talk about their studio, their gear…etc. I am sure you have been on forums in endless debates over this or that Software/Gear/Instrument, I know I have been in a couple. This makes me think about the different worlds of Art, if there even is, that I see or think I see. I would like to try an explain.

The 2 Worlds of Art?

In one world you have Musicians, Engineers, Producers that spend day after day, weeks that turn into years that turn into a life time… spending their time and efforts on the material things of their ART and in the end they are masters of those material things that have no life and no music.

In the other world you have Musicians, Engineers, Producers that spend day after day, weeks that turn into years that turn into a life time… spending their time and efforts on the fundamentals and skills of their ART which it takes to make great music, these are the people who make great music, are in bands, mix and produce great albums.

Let me break this down a little more, if I may?

Take a guitar, any guitar it’s hanging on a wall in a music store waiting for someone to buy it. 2 people walk into this store and look at the guitar. The 1st dude “thinks man that’s a nice looking guitar, I wonder what make it is, what kind of pickups it has?”.
The 2nd dude thinks “I just want to play guitar, that one costs too much money I’ll look for a lower cost one”.

So these 2 people take home their guitars. The 1st dude tells all his friends, joins a forum for that kind of guitar, posts pictures and videos of it…etc. The 2nd dude goes home and plays his guitar and takes lessons.

Years later. The 1st dude has his guitar hanging on a wall and bought many more and joined new forums, posted pictures and videos and knows everything about his guitars. Years later the 2nd dude has a couple of albums and is in a band.

So are there 2 worlds of ART, is it that easy, is there more to it or did I nail it?
