[Solved] Buying a new extension - Antidote or Parsec

Hi!

First post here.

I own Reason Essentials 8 and looking for some replacement for the other synths that comes with the original Reason version.
Im looking at Antidote and Parsec. I can go as far as around $100. Im mainly producing eletronic music.

What would be the best choice? Hoping for some advices.

What type of sounds are you looking to make? These two synths are very different synths.

from what i know they are very different indeed.
I dont own antidote though, but i do have parsec.

But from my knowledge, antidote is great for sharp textured synthesis like dubstep basses, trance stuff etc. and parsec is great for rich pad sounds.

But, i reckon you can do all with both of them. One thing i do find is that parsec has a bit of a softer character were antidote has more of a sharpness to it.

Best guess is to watch alot of videos about both, see what they are capable of and compare that with what you tend or like to do.
I went for parsec cause it suits me more, but if your into fat dubstep/ electro for example then antidote might suit you better.

Thanks for the fast replys :)

I bought some synths like the Mixfood`s Unison and the Turn2on`s Meteora but they sounded cheap to me. I asked for a refund. (Sorry developers)
I want to program supersaws and pluck sounds. Yes, Substractor can do this, but it feels somewhat limited. I own a SH-201 so I have
some soundprogramming knowlegde. I dont want a synth where the patches and the init-patch sounds thin and distorted.

Then antidote might be your best shot. But i highly recommend playing around with multiple instances of the the same synth with almost identical settings but just some minor tweaks to get that fat and rich sound that your after ;)

I say download them and try them both out for a month and I am sure you will figure out which one is best for you.

Now I tried both and checked out some patches. I also played around with the settings and I heard at once that Antidote was the one for me.
So now Im a happy owner of Antidote :) Thanks for all your replys.

My first post here. I have both Parsec and Antidote. If I had to choose to only keep one, it would definitely be Antidote. It's one awesome synth!

*and don't forget with Antidote, you can route any other instruments you have through it's effects section too, They are cut down versions of their effect Re's but still very useful*
