Welcome to our community! I listened to your song and I like it. Let me say you are half way there as your song structure is great. The mix on the other hand needs a bit of work as there is not enough separation between all the elements but know this is much easier to learn than what you have already accomplished

Also I fixed your SC link so it shows in your post. Please check our help forum there are tutorials on how to do this.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to listen, Matt. Yes, I didn't spend too much time on the mix, but thanks for your thoughts on it. Because there aren't many elements I didn't want to make it sound lopsided by putting much out to the sides. So I ended up putting everything fairly centrally, which could be why there's not much separation in the mix. Or were you thinking more along the lines of EQ for separating stuff?

And thanks for fixing the link! I will have a look at the tutorials.

Hi Pete,
Good to hear someone else using Reason for guitars! I find it a great program for audio these days, even ditched Cubase for it!
Arrangement sounds good to me. Maybe pan the lead part out a bit and use some delay to ping it across, that might 'open' it up a bit?

Thanks for taking the time to listen James! I did try your suggestion but it didn't really work for me. Maybe the solution is to pan guitar and bass away from the middle just while the lead is going. Anyway, I'm researching panning and mixing separation so I'll keep learning. Time to listen to your post.

i think he means that you duplicate the same track half the level and delay one side by 1-5MS

Vocoderboy, sorry it took me so long to get round to trying. Yes, thanks, it did work - I duplicated the rhythm guitar, put it left and right and lowered the volume of the two as you suggested. But then I started noticing other things that needed doing - panned the bongoes more drastically and that opened it all out quite a bit; put a high pass filter on them too, among a few other things I've forgotten. I've uploaded the new file to the original link if you're interested.

Anyway, it also got me wondering about how people decide on a level for the input gain on the Maximizer but I suppose that's a subject for another thread. I'll check if there are any around first. Cheers.
