Click track question

I would like to start using a click track while recording. My question is about how to preserve expression with a click track. I am not a musician, I am the sound guy. I don't record much that has a rhythm track like drums or a bass. The music I record is mostly folk type music, with guitar, piano, and vocals. After trying to edit some tracks I can definitely see the advantage of a click track, but when we come to parts in the music with an extended hold, like a birds eye, how can I accomidate this with a click track.
thanks for the help in advance

It just helps you to keep in time. But, it wont make you play 'robotic' or quantized. Theres so.much rythems and grooves to explore in a 4/4 time signature, dont even worry.
Its no point to stress about at all. Just do it and you'll find it out on your own ;)

In sheet music, it is a notation that signifies holding a note out longer than the note normally would. It looks somewhat like a birds eye and that it is how I think it got its name. It is a dot with a semi circle drawn over it that sits above the staff over the note you want to hold out. It is somewhat subjective, on how long to hold out the note, depending on the singer and accompanienment.
