Greetings,

I am back to making music with machines so that means back to using Reason. I used Reason heavily with versions 1-3 in conjunction with Cubase on a windows platform. 8 years later I am back with Reason 8 and I am on a mac . I can't believe how much Reason, which I loved way back when, has improved. I am really excited to dive in once the rest of my rig arrives. I have never used mac for anything aside from general internet so in addition to the time warp, I have learning a new os as it relates to music production to look forward to.

For my audio midi interface I chose to go with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 26. It should arrive tomorrow and I hope that getting it set up is breezy easy. If anyone has any experience with this combo, I would love to hear your experience.

I found this place looking for information on setting up midi for reason on the mac, and learning about recognized keyboards/controllers.

Anyway, I look forward to getting familiar with the new system and hopefully getting some music made very soon.

Welcome! Mac or Win Reason works great on both. I use a Mac Pro 2010 quad 2.8 that I bought used for under $600 off of eBay. Reason has changed a lot since 3 for sure, the Mixer, Audio and Re's are the biggest updates IMHO and they kick ass! Not sure what controller you are using but "if" you decide to buy one look into NectarTech.com they make controllers that work with Reason better than the rest IMHO. I use the Panorama P6 it's crazy how easy it works and how tightly woven into Reason it is. Just one more thing check out ZZounds.com you can play while you play, it's great I use them all the time.

And ye, the nektar panoramas are amazing if you love the hands on approach.
I own a p6 for close to a year now, and its lovely.. so nicely integrated..

And the workflow is amazing once your adapted to it!
