I was a bit surprised to see the official forums closed, but I can understand. For a software company, it's not easy to maintain user forums. There are often problems with users that don't understand why forums have to be moderated. Also, if people post negative things about the software, it looks bad on the official forums, but if they delete negative postings, users are getting pissed off. Last but not least, maintaining an official forum costs time and money.
Anyway, it would be nice if they left the old forums available in read-only mode, as a kind of knowledge base / archive.
