Ember Mother

One of the first songs we made and was released on our first single 2013
Re-made it a bit and released again on our latest single since we like the song.

The remakes were:
-New vocals and put Birgitta in front of it
-New mix based on what we learnt over the years
-New mastering with a bit more careful limiting. The Soundcloud version is a bit more pushed than the ones on Spotify, iTunes etc etc
-Some changes in arrangement

I would appreciate comments on production, mix etc. The style, song, genre is a matter of taste so I guess either you like or not or in between. But I am really interested to learn and become better in mixing, production, mastering
What is good?
What is bad or could be improved?

the only real crit i can give here is, the backing vocals need tweaking get her to sing a harmony part to her self if she can/time permits and the kicks are a bit weak.
its a definite 7 tho (Y)

i listened again on my monitors and found some of the higher frequencies were becoming muddied esp with the crash cyms.

hmm.. not sure if I get what you mean..
I noticed during mastering that there is a phase error on the rather dominant predator synth. This probably since I doubled the track, delayed on a tiny bit detuned and then panned them to get a spread
I noticed just in the end of the process and decided to let it be.. Can it be that?

i'm not sure what is causing it but as i was listening the high frequencies were melding into pink noise.

Just had a listen after a glass of scotch and it spaced the **** out of me! (in a postive but unexpected way ;) )
But ye i agree with vocoderboy's points.

The higher end indeed is a bit "messy" so to say, maybe some carefull hard descission (or however you spell it) making eq could do the trick i reckon. Maybe carve eq ducker would be of big help here, since i have the feeling you dont really want to eliminate some of the spectrum of certain elements like the synths top end. While it sounds good without the vocals, both go clashing when put together.
And the guitar being in there as well somewere adds to the issue.

But, thats my 2 cents!
