Hi,
This is my little home studio.
Nice efficient setup you have there...simplicity can sometimes be so difficult

Me in my girlfriend moved in together a month ago, she decided to gave me a room dedicated to music. Could wish for any better!
I've spent quite a bit of time building the desk, took me 4 damn weeks. A lot more then i ancipated! But it's build to last, now see if it'll last.
Im not done though, still need to paint some parts of the desk, wiring everything into a permanent setting (still messing around with that mixer) and do decorating and acoustic treatment etc. but that'll come in time..
It's a big mess at the moment. Ive had one proper session with a friend of mine last tuesday. We started of around 20:30 and decided it was well enough around 04:30... So the aftermath still shows since i havent been bothered cleaning up since

Were's your studio pic then? Would love to see one
By the way, since you have an engineering degree. Im still kinda puzzling about what to do with the acoustics. I think i know were the room is reflecting alot (done the most harsh bits with some foam i had laying around), especialy if i would need bass traps or not.
And what your thought on diy treatment? i.e. using wool etc?

Acoustics is not my thing, far too many numbers involved, but we did learn some basics and it's an engineering diploma which is not quite the same as an acoustic degree. Make the corners of your room not 90 degrees, look into absorbsion coefficienties, drapes across your walls, kill off reflections, don't sit dead center to your monitors... Er hard to know where your room modes are without proper measurement/ analysis as this would determine where to treat. Or stick some acoustic foam to a board and get a friend to move around the room with it while you sit in your listing position and listen.

I will further dive into it then. I thought "maybe he'll be able to spot some of the more self evident spots".
But what exactly do you mean by not sitting dead center of youre monitors? I.e. NOT in the perfect triangle rule of thumb?

thats right, not a perfect triangle. Sit slightly off to one side. Helps to hear panning and depth easier, not so much an acoustic thing maybe a psychoacoustic.. but hey.. you might need to adjust to your room first before you're able to make any improvements.
Ok here's a video (photos are so 20th centry) of my hardware kit that i was using before Reason (and the internet) came along.. when i moved house about 8-9 years ago the kit went into storage and not much of it has been out since.
