Guys,

I found it a neat idea to check out the first track you guys made in Reason.
I hope the mod(s) allow me to do so :p

I am pretty new to the game (both joining forum and working with Reason), so its purely sincere interest in what u made.
Just post your 1st track and tell something about it in, lets say, two lines.
Maybe its also a nice way to see how much you have improved since then;)

Allow me to kick off with this one.
Never coming home was inspired by a song of a Dutch singer Laura Jansen; Queen of Elba.
From the 1st time I heard that song, I wanted to sample her voice.
Besides that I am a kid from the UK rave era back in the 90's (got all the 12"s of Prodigy, Altern8, Future Sound of London, etc), hence the beats, sounds and pitched up sample.
A post, just for fun sake:)

Haha thanks for making me go back to this. Can`t stop laughing right now :D
This was made alongside the famous "7 day song" series by boyinaband. I hate myself for posting this but here you go. For your entertainment :D

Oohhh.
Which track is that from 3:04; after the break at 3:40 its Sublime man!
Very Aphex Twin.
I love that technique with that snare.
Not doable for me... yet
Or is it 'just' putting quite an amount of bars close after eachother?

That track in particular is gonna be called "Nachtvlinder". I started working with that rapper Loewie since half a year. Did some production on his latest release "Vea Victis", helped em out alot with mixing and doing dj'ing at shows.
But, we decided to do a new style hip hop thing, since he is in love with the electronic/ ambient/ experimental stuff that ive been doing for the last 2 years. So we sat down and decided to do a experimental hiphop ep. This is the first thing we've created so far (only sat down once yet.. haha) and it aint even finished yet.

That drum bit you're on about is nothing fancy really, i just wanted to go "all out" on the drums (up to a point that still makes sense) in that section cause we want an instrumental part as a chorus.
The snare gets its swing from a 3/4 measure within the 4/4.

Nachtvlinder Break bit.jpg

Every thing is set on a 1/16 snap (gonna do the "non-quantizing" later) so feel free to have a go at it, or just rebuild it. I dont mind ;)
But as you can see, im not done yet.. There's still hats to be added and doing work on the velocity's. After thats all done, im gonna resample the whole bit (with reverb) chopp it up, and do some break glitching :D

Thanks man!
It took me a while to figure out how to program Redrum and how to work with the sequencer, but was pretty happy and proud of the endresult.
Waiting for your first.

Fun to see all the old school stuff on here and that I wasn't the only one to quantize the sjizzle out of my tracks back then :)

Below you will find my first ever creation made with Propellerhead Reason 4 back in 2008, which now has more than 49.000 views to date.

The funny thing is that I couldn't actually play the guitar in real life back then and still can't in real life (nor am I musically schooled), so I gave sequencing a go.
While listening to tracks from Paul Gilbert, I kept returning to one particular song. It was 'Get out of my yard'. Especially the intro of the song had an enchanting effect. The intro lasts only about half a minute, then the song
kicks off into high-shredding-gear. Loving the intro-bit, I thought that maybe the intro could be prolonged into a full track of itself. Just beginning to understand the Reason program, I gave it a go and used the chords from 'Get out of my yard' as a base for my own 'extended version'.

It sounds a bit 'programmy' and stale, but I think it was the start of a great hobby.

It is embarrassing to show your first takes but well

To try out the DAW we didnt want to start with a song but made a version of a new wave/punk song from the 80s made by a band I later played with
http://www.punktjafs.com/Punktjafs MP3/udl_oar.mp3

So we took that song a made sort of a jazz version just to pss of my old buddies in the band

It is all is Swedish but translation goes something like this (typically desperate new wave lyrics of the 80s)

Your whole life is like an island
You get nowhere, except to the deep
Locked down in the conrete

Everyone is an island
So hard to reach
So hard to get away from
I hate islands

Islands

Everything is so destructive
Islands scare me
On islands lives the powerlessness
So frustrating

Everyone is an island
So hard to reach
So hard to get away from
I hate islands

Islands
